The venerable M1911 is 100 years old today! Or to be precise, it was formally adopted by the Army on March 29, 1911, thus gaining its designation, M1911.
A century later, with some modifications, the same basic design is still carried by some U.S. Military special operations teams, and is a highly popular choice for concealed and open carry by private individuals, myself included.
Thank you and congratulations, John Moses Browning.
