We’ve been proposing this for a while, but now Wisconsin Rep. Frank Lasee is proposing to allow teachers, principals, administrators, and other school personnel to carry concealed weapons. (MSNBC) There was a situation in Virginia where library officials were trying to ban guns in libraries in violation of state law. They asked, “why do you need a gun in a library?” If a maniac can start shooting up an Amish school, of all places, where don’t law abiding folks need one? Besides, if the kook has any logic left floating around in his noggin, the first place he’d pick is somewhere no one is going to shoot back. Lasee says,
To make our schools safe for our students to learn, all options should be on the table. Israel and Thailand have well-trained teachers carrying weapons and keeping their children safe from harm. It can work in Wisconsin.
The directory of school safety says, “We have problems in our schools, but not to the point where we need to arm our teachers and principals.” I guess he wants to wait for a few more school shootings before he feels it’s “needed.”
