Here’s a video of our Soldiers Obliterating Terrorists in Iraq at night.
Update: The video is infrared gun camera footage from an AH-64 Apache. The weapon utilized is the McDonnell Douglas M230 30 millimeter chain gun. The 30 mm round it fires has a muzzle velocity of 792 m/s and a maximum effective range of 6000 meters. The typical round is the M789 High Explosive Dual Purpose round for anti armor and anti personnel roles. It will penetrate 2 inches of rolled steel armor at 4000 meters. It appears that the gunship in the video has been busy as the ammo indicator shows 300 at the beginning of this engagement and the typical load out is 1200.
