New Show: Personal Defense TV

There’s a new show on the Outdoor Channel called Personal Defense TV. The first episode is on Sunday at 11:30 am. It’s nice to see a range of gun shows on TV these days.

Here’s the blurb for it:

Welcome to the first episode of Personal Defense TV. This week, host Tom Gresham joins Rob Pincus at the Valhalla Training Center to learn the difference between recreational target shooting and defensive shooting. This “efficiency of fire” takes place on the range and in a 360-degree live-fire realistic environment. Next, judge for yourself if Taurus’s “The Judge” .45 Colt/.410 revolver is the ultimate vehicle “Survival Tool” as Technical Editor Dick Metcalf takes the stubby scattergun to task. In “Reality Check,” Massad Ayoob explains that there are unsafe ATM machines and less unsafe ATM machines. After showing you what to look for when choosing an ATM, Ayoob goes through steps you can take to reduce your chances of being attacked when using one. And in “Skills Drill” we take you step-by-step through drawing and reholstering from a strong side holster both to fire and ready positions.

Update: It showed up on TiVo as “Self Defense TV” so I had trouble finding it. I don’t know if they changed the name after they submitted the schedule data or what. It wasn’t in the same category as the other gun shows, either. I had to look it up by time.

For those unfamiliar with him, Massad Ayoob is one of the world’s foremost experts on personal defense and weapons. Anything Ayoob says should be weighed heavily and considered valuable, even if he does carry a 9mm in most cases.
