Michael Moore has a long history of pissing off those he films by cutting, splicing, and working over filmed segments until the implied message is completely opposite the speakers intent. In this case, Moore took footage from NBC as his starting point, but the result is the same. Here’s the CNN, the FoxNews, and the Newsmax version.
In Moore’s film Fahrenheit 9/11, an armless Iraq War Vet, Peter Damon, is shown on a hospital stretcher saying he feels like he is “being crushed in a vice.” But according to Damon, “they took the clip because it was a gut-wrenching scene,” Damon said. “They sandwiched it in. [Moore] was using me as ammunition. I was complaining about the pain I would’ve been having [if it weren’t for the painkiller].“
Then Moore calls the movie a “documentary” as though there were more than a sliver of truth to be found in it.
