While some may not appreciate this for what it is, it’s truly amazing how the world of motorcycles has developed in the last two decades. Now, Ducati has upped the bar a notch by producing, in very limited quantity and at substantive cost ($65K plus you must have a 999R in your garage already, another $30K or so), a bike that is as close to a DOT legal MotoGP race bike as has ever been produced. So, has someone got ninety five thousand dollars they are willing to donate to the “I Know a Guy That Has One of These Fund”? I guess I can look and dream. Open the link and then click on the Desmosedici RR photo for more information. http://www.ducati.com/bikes/index.jhtml?family=bikes
On the flip side of this is a bike produced by Bimota that has a single sided swing arm front end, rather than the traditional forks. The amazing part of this is they produced a similar bike in the mid ’90s, but they were not widely accepted. Again, the price for admission is high. http://www.bimota.it/scheda_tesi2d_1_eng.htm
Update by sammy: I just had to add the photo, this thing is beautiful.
If you are not moved to donate to the “I Know a Guy That Has One of These Fund,” I propose an alternative: The “thatsonofabitchshouldbedeadsoletsseewhathedoeswiththis” fund.
Donations to either will be gladly accepted. I’ll even allow passengers, if they can stand the heat of those pipes!
