Disproportionate

06-07-16-DispropoRespoons-X.gifCox & Forkum‘s latest post is on the money as usual. (click the cartoon to jump to the accompanying essay.) All of the uproar over “disproportionate violence” is simply maddening. Kicking the crap out of Bad Men™ when they do Bad Things™ does not make Israel one of them.

In The Art of War, Sun Tzu said military tactics are like unto water; for water in its natural course runs away from high places and hastens downwards. In other words, a fair fight means your tactics suck.

Notice that no one cried \”disproportionate response\” when Hamas demanded 1,200 prisoners in exchange for one Israeli hostage. Hamas and Hezbollah aren\’t playing a game of proportions, why should Israel?

Indeed! Perhaps they should play Hamas\’ game of proportion. Hamas has clearly stated that the correct ratio is 1200 Palestinians equal 1 Israeli, and Israel should take them at their word. For each Israeli killed by Hamas, 1200 Palestinians should be killed by Israel. How could they argue, Israel would just be responding \”proportionally\” by Hamas stated numbers?!
