Before You Vote Tomorrow…

do a little research on the various political races. I printed out a sample of the 2006 Cobb County ballot today (admittedly last minute) to see what my options are and attempt to make an informed decision on each sector. While doing my research for Governor, I visited Garrett Michael Hayes’, the Libertarian candidate, website. My first impression was not so good, as he is a transplanted Georgian, by way of California. Then I saw his reasoning for moving from California and read over his thoughts on the issues. There is no comment on the Second Amendment specifically, but I’m seeking to remedy that by writing in. It may be too late to get an answer, but I’m trying. Please look at the candidate’s website. This ought to bring about a good debate string.

Here is a link to one of the debates between the candidates for Governor.

Update by Sammy: Looks like he is a friend of Second Amendment. Here is Garrett Michael Hayes speaking about NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s improper law suits:

New York stripped its citizens of their Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms almost a century ago,” Hayes said, “when they passed the Sullivan Act in 1911. Now Bloomberg wants to make New York City over as ‘Blame-berg’ by pointing everywhere else and saying, ‘It’s YOUR fault!’ With nearly seven times as many murders in his city than in Atlanta, he’s grasping at straws.” “Anti-gun ‘activists’ love to tell people that the Supreme Court has never ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms. What they won’t tell you is that the Supreme Court has never taken a case where they HAD to rule on that supposed ‘question’. And the language of the Constitution is crystal clear – ‘the right of the PEOPLE to keep and bear arms SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED’.”

Also, Jason Pye is supporting Hayes. I don’t always agree with Jason, but he is on the right side regarding “liberty’s teeth.”

It’s not an endorsement, but Garrett answered the Georgia Guns Owners survery with a score of 100%.
