2nd Amendment Results

David Kopel analyzes the election result from a Second Amendment perspective in this post over at NRO. The gist of his piece is that many of the seats that changed hands went to pro-gun Democrats and that gun rights are not significantly endangered by the outcome. The most encouraging point Kopel makes is put forth in this quote:

Nevertheless, the class of pro-gun Democrats who will be joining the House and the Senate includes some who will eventually become party leaders, and who will help move the Democratic party back towards its traditional position of respect for the civil liberties of the American people. A very constructive development, in the long run.

While Speaker Pelosi will surely pose a challenge to our Second Amendment rights for the next two years, if David’s prediction is correct it is most heartening.
